The Better Business Bureau sends out alert: Scams through Craigslist cause harm to AlertPay

AlertPay Scam Prevention

Is AlertPay safe? Is AlertPay legit? Is AlertPay a Scam? Is AlertPay secure?

Fraudsters the world over have often used AlertPay's name as a cover for their criminal activities. We receive countless phone calls and emails from people selling jewelry who have been asked to ship off the item before confirming payment. It is issues like this that make users ask Is AlertPay a scam ? Is AlertPay Secure ? Is AlertPay safe ?

The fraudster gives the person a phony name, email, tracking number and tells them to send the item, then provide us with a tracking number before getting paid. But we do not issue or accept tracking numbers. We process instant online payments.

Other scams through Craigslist include people who appear to be selling cars. The fraudulent seller tells potential buyers a fake sob story and convinces them to send the money and pick up their new car fhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifrom us - but we are not an escrow service.

As you well know, AlertPay is a secure, compliant online payment solution that processes instant payments between people and businesses, and the Better Business Bureau vouches for our legitimacy. They recently published an article on a similar scam unfortunately committed in our name through Craigslist. You can read it here.

If you have had a similar experience, please share your story and forward any suspicious emails to spoof@alertpay.com. The Better Business Bureau sends out alert: Scams through Craigslist cause harm to AlertPay

Thanks for your help in keeping these Scammers at bay.
Just keep this in mind when receiving a payment from Alertpay. The offcial Alertpay company does not need or want a shipping tracking number before they send a payment.
Thats was how this Scammer almost got me.
    Be carefull out there.

  3. I was interested in purchasing a Motorcycle that I found an add for in the local paper. New the price was too good to be true and these are the emails they have sent me back. Saying to pay thru alertpay. I have not paid as it is all not adding up. But am sure someone will.

Hi there, I am really sorry I haven't been able to answer sooner, but I've been busy, I've just moved to England. Don't worry though, the bike is still there in Australia, I left it at a shipping company in Northern Teritory. The price I am asking is 8.900$ (negotiable) and it includes shipping anywhere in Australia. The bike has been left to me in a will by my uncle, I am not a bike fan, never had one, don't even have a license to drive, but I can tell you the bike runs perfectly, it is fully paid, no accidents.
If you are still interested, than please email me back so I can explain how can this be done without me being in Australia!
    Cheers
Before leaving Australia I have prearranged the deal with AlertPay https://www.AlertPay.com, so that there will be no need for me to be there!
You will need to send me your full name, shipping address and phone number so I can set up the transaction with AlertPay; after that they will contact you with the payment details and you will make 50% deposit to them; they will secure your money until you receive the bike!
In the same day AlertPay will confirm your deposit, shipping will start and you will receive a tracking number to track your delivery! The bike will reach your address in about 4 working days, after that you will have another 5 days for inspection; if unsatisfied with the bike you will get a full refund from AlertPay, if not, than you'll pay the rest of the balance!
I gived them legal empowerment to do the Rego transfer in my name and they have all the original papers to do it!

    let me know your decision
    cheers

  4. Hi Anonymous,

This letter that you submitted could be a typical Craigslist scam. Con artists prey on the general public's lack of understanding on how our company works.

The way this person is describing our process is not accurate. We do not hold funds or goods for people, nor do we confirm deposits; we are a payment processor and we only process payments.

Also, we do not issue refunds. That is the merchant's responsibility.

To be safe, we suggest that you avoid making major purchases, like motorcycles and automobiles, and purchase these goods from a trusted dealership rather than online without having seen or tested the bike.

We've seen too many scams that sound a lot like this, so it would be safer to avoid this transaction altogether.

Also, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

    Thanks for your question!
