The Better Business Bureau sends out alert: Scams through Craigslist cause harm to AlertPay

Fraudsters the world over have often used AlertPay's name as a cover for their criminal activities. We receive countless phone calls and emails from people selling jewelry who have been asked to ship off the item before confirming payment.

The fraudster gives the person a phony name, email, tracking number and tells them to send the item, then provide us with a tracking number before getting paid. But we do not issue or accept tracking numbers. We process instant online payments.

Other scams through Craigslist include people who appear to be selling cars. The fraudulent seller tells potential buyers a fake sob story and convinces them to send the money and pick up their new car from us - but we are not an escrow service.

As you well know, AlertPay is a secure, compliant online payment solution that processes instant payments between people and businesses, and the Better Business Bureau vouches for our legitimacy. They recently published an article on a similar scam unfortunately committed in our name through Craigslist. You can read it here.

If you have had a similar experience, please share your story and forward any suspicious emails to spoof@alertpay.com.

Improved checkout process will make shopping hassle-free!

Hello AlertPay members,

We have some good news to share with all of you. Once again, the team has been working very diligently on further improving our services for you. Keep reading!

Checkout just got easier!

One of our main priorities is making online shopping as simple and secure as possible, so we are happy to announce that our checkout process is more streamlined and user-friendly. If you have ever used our quick and easy Send Money feature, then you will love our new checkout process since it is almost identical.

Now you can choose your source of funds on the very first page when making a payment through a seller's website. Since we have eliminated an entire step, you can make your purchase in no time at all.

Also, non-members can make up to three credit card purchases through our services without having to login or validate their email. Please note that after the third purchase, non-members will have to validate their email address – which only takes a few minutes.

We hope that you enjoy the benefits of our new and improved checkout process and that your customer experience is a positive one!

Just a reminder on how to pay with a MasterCard

If you have not already added a MasterCard to your AlertPay account, then you must do so to make a MasterCard payment at a seller's website.

You must either add your MasterCard to your account after sign-up or if have already set up your account, just login to do it. Once you do that, you can return to the seller's website and continue shopping.

Here's how to add your MasterCard to your AlertPay account:

1. Login to your AlertPay account.
2. Click on "Profile".
3. Under “Financial”, click on "Credit Cards".
4. Enter credit card details and click on "Next".
5. Verify details and check box to agree to “User Agreement”.
6. Click on "Finish".

This does NOT apply to Visa and American Express. You can make automatic payments with these cards without having to add them to your account first.

Thank you for your understanding!
